hen you have extra wood leftover from a project…make sure you use it!
I joined several Cricut groups on facebook looking for inspiration for projects…this is both dangerous and helpful! I credit them for the following bathroom organizer idea.
First you need to decide on the size. We estimated 16 inches long by 6 inches wides and 4 inches tall. My husband helped me by cutting these pieces, because he is the best!
Below are the supplies I used:
-nail gun
-gorilla glue
-Minwax wood finish stain (mostly because it was already on hand, any wood stain works!)
-black latex gloves
-white chalk paint
I assembled the wood pieces with glue first. I let them set for about 5 minutes (give or take since I was drinking). Once it had set for a minute, we used the nail gun (because two slightly buzzed adults with a nail gun is better than just one).
The wood settled for 15 minutes before I used the stain. Pro Tip: Once you apply the stain you must wipe it or it will get too dark. I did not thin it the first time because I was on margarita number two. If you don’t wipe the stain it is not the end of the world.
I let the stain dry for 2-3 days. I used my Cricut to make the phrase I wanted to add to my box. Once I applied my decal I used the chalk paint to make it look distressed. You can also use regular paint and go back with sand paper to distress it. I find that chalk paint is much better. Chalk Paint is thick and more difficult to apply so you can easily get the distressed look.
Warmly,
Lauren
